Casiotone for the Painfully Alone
On 5 December, 13 years ago, Chicago-based film school dropout Owen Ashworth played his first ever live show. He called himself Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, and his pulsing, lo-tech keyboard love songs and awkwardly touching mumblings have charmed us ever since. This show may well be a painful one though, as it’s part of a farewell tour. ‘I’d just like to clarify that this doesn’t mean that I’m quitting music,’ Ashworth assures us. ‘I love writing and recording songs, and I hope to make lots more records in my lifetime. But, I’m ready for a fresh start and a new challenge.
