Ed Byrne

✽✽ HITLIST
THE BEST COMEDY
Ahead of a bumper spring tour, Mr Ed jaunts our way for some warm- up gigs down the old Stand. For those of a younger disposition, the boy Byrne used to have really long hair and was (probably still is) a huge Queen fan who got nominated by the Perrier panel back in the 90s and soon thereafter played some big gigs in the fancy chandelier- friendly space at the Assembly Rooms and the Edinburgh Playhouse. He’s done some mobile phone voiceover ads and made an ITV sitcom (ouch) with Davina McCall (double ouch), but we forgive him for all his sins as he returns to the place where he truly belongs. On a comedy stage. (Brian Donaldson) ■ The Stand, Glasgow, Sun 24 Oct; The Stand, Edinburgh, Tue 26 Oct.
