Roderick Buchanan As well as providing a platform for emerging artists, Central Station is also proving a useful resource for established practitioners. The global creative hub has now unveiled two new works by filmmaker and photographer Roderick Buchanan, produced in collaboration with Glasgow-based sound studio Savalas and featuring a soundtrack by previously unknown composers Fear Wasabi, who were selected from a long list of over 30 submissions, received following an open call made on Central Station. In ‘Tattoo’ Buchanan provides a rich documentary insight into the lives of bandsmen from two of Glasgow’s premier flute bands, while ‘Lament’ juxtaposes contemporary footage posted on YouTube of soliders in Iraq with diary extracts chronicling the travels of Lord Sidney Osborne during the Irish Potato famine in 1847. ■ www.thisiscentralstation.com
