Dawn Landes With soft folky melodies inspired by Willie Nelson & Linda Ronstadt, Dawn Landes is a welcome
addition to the country scene, infusing it with her own brand of nostalgic pop and occasional splashes of psychedelic rock. She’s touring on the back of her new album Sweetheart Rodeo, largely inspired by the adventures of her great-grandmother’s beau who ran off to be a rodeo star during the Great Depression – in the past, she’s described each song as being ‘like its own bull, each ride is its own love story . . . you know, trying to hold onto a wild thing isn’t always graceful.’ Lasso her while you can, before she rides into the sunset. ■ Sneaky Pete’s, Edinburgh, Tues 24 Nov; The Captain’s Rest, Glasgow, Wed 25 Nov.
