New State Records are the grand masters of the dance compilation and unleash another three multi-disc stoaters on our tiny battered earholes this month. The first, Haçienda Acid House Classics is a two disc mix – reviewed on page 64 – compiled by Peter Hook (for

This young English quintet were described by Q as a ‘vibrant blend of The White Stripes, barn dances and the Stephanne Grappelli-like fiddle- frenzy jazz/blues’. They unleash their eponymous debut album on 5 October via One Little Indian and play Edinburgh’s Cabaret Voltaire on 7 October and the Captain’s Rest in Glasgow the night after.
