EPIC NAILS FAILS Re: Nine Inch Nails Props to Trent Reznor for cancelling his social networking activities in favour of his own privacy. Despite being a famous recluse, Reznor was remarkably forthcoming in his engagement with his listeners online to a degree few (if any) other artists of his stature would, and if we've now lost this relationship, we have only ourselves to blame.

As pleased as I was to read such a positive piece on this important and influential musician, I couldn't help but be disappointed by a few factual errors. I realise the writer of this article can't be expected to have the accumulated knowledge of NIN trivia that a long-time fan would, but a quick Wikipedia check would have avoided this. I could also take issue with the laughable assertion that NIN have anything in common with emo, but that’s a matter of opinion. Rob, Glasgow

SCOTCH MYTH Re: 632 Stanley Baker Stanley Baker a 'mighty Scot'? This is carrying nationalist appropriation too far. Anyone who’s ever heard Baker knows that he is Welsh to his finger- tips. Grahame Smith

LETTER OF THE FORTNIGHT

ACRONYM ACTION Re: West side story I thoroughly enjoyed Kirstin Innes's article focusing on the West End and its plethora of delis, bookshops and vintage shops all essential to the raison d'etre of the modern Boho (and I mean that in a nice way). I got particularly worked up (again in a good way) at her reference to South Finnieston as SoFi (although isn't the area around Crabshakk really NoFi?). NYC style acronyms are surely the way forward for the city of Glasgow. OK, New York is so massive it requires abbreviations for the area north of Little Italy (NOLITA) and the up and coming neighbourhood down under the Manhattan-Brooklyn overpass (DUMBO), but surely we can apply this code to our favourite Glasgow hoods too? How about: SO-DUMB (South of Dumbarton Rd), NO-DUMB (North of

Dumbarton Rd), NOKESI (pron. NOKEEZEE North Kelvinside) aka: PRIMARY (Practically in Maryhill), BYRO (Byres Road),

BLAK BYRO (Between the lights at Kelvinbridge and

Byres Road), Or in the Southside... NO-GO (north Gorbals), GO-HI (Govanhill), SO-POSH (South

Pollockshields), NO-POSH (North Pollockshields) I could go on, but perhaps your readers may like to come up with their own. Dave P

TAKE FIVE Re: Edinburgh Festival comedy highlights for a fiver Thanks for publishing this useful article listing all the £5 previews at the opening weekend of the fringe. However, none of the shows listed are £5 after that. For £5 shows all the way through the Fringe check out www.fivepoundfringe.com. Every show, every day, only a fiver. MAN AND BOY Re: A Boy Called Dad I saw this film at the Edinburgh Film Festival and really rated it. Films with kids in are not normally my thing but for this one I'll make an exception. Will recommend my mates to see it if it comes round and will probably go with them to see it again. In my book that's pretty good going. TEENAGE DAYDREAM Re: Florence and the Machine Lungs Elkie Brooks has to be the UK’s best female singer, and I initially thought there were shades of Elkie here. After listening to Florence and the Machine album futher however, I think the only thing she has in common with Elkie Brooks is her hair. Elkie is by far, a much better singer.
