British designer Jean Muir held a place at the cutting edge of the international fashion scene; she was known as ‘the new queen of the dress‘ in Paris and ‘the jewel in the crown of British fashion' in New York. In 2005. a collection of over l8.000 items was donated to National Museums Scotland by her widower. Harry Leukert. and are now on display.
