Your new films were deliberately made on small budgets. Why?
Richard Jobson ‘()ver the past four movies I‘ve been working on how to do things on a miniscule budget and I‘m happy working in that territory. The whole punk rock ethos still works for me.’

RJ 'You‘vc got to design the project to he done for the hudgct. Once you do. that allows you to he more experimental. Working at these hudgcts. you have creative li‘ecdom. there's no douht ahout it.‘
JH ‘With The Dungeon .ilimi‘ Killings we decided just to make the film no matter what. Rather than spend years trying to get money from funds or private investors. we decided to raise the money ourselves and make it for as little as possihlc. Within a year we had the film made. as opposed to going to meetings that go nowhere for a year‘.‘
Wouldn’t you like to make big budget films?
RJ 'Making a hig Hollywood l‘ilm has no interest for me. A lot of people make a film for £200,000 and use it as a calling card to make a higger lilm. Why would you want to make a l’austian pact like that'.’ Would you he in a punk hand to become l‘riends with (ienesisl’ I don't make movies to hang out with Sam Mendes or Steven Spielherg. I have ahsolutely no interest in those people or the movies they make..

It's hard to pick which event Will be best they're all gorng to be pretty epic. We want to attract people who are not necessarily into live gigs but might like going to the crnema. and Vice versa.
Shhhh! An Evening of Not So Silent Movies is a highlight. It's a two-hour show wrth bands dOing 15) minute slots. either composing scores for favourite films. or playing their muSIc over arthouse rnovres or blockbusters. It should be very cool. Dolby Anol are creating a horror soundtrack wrth analogue synths; The Parsonage and Zoey Van Goey are taking part and we've asked local actors and burlesque performers to perform, so it ties tip theatre, music and film.
The Arches electro club night Death Disco gets a bigger budget on Saturday 21 February. so expect the usual Visuals — like hanging projection cubes — but they're really upping the ante to create something mind-blowing and spectacular.
Union of Knives. an experimental rock group from Glasgow, have commissioned local artists to provide Visuals and installations. during an intimate show. so that should be really full-on.
BeSides the events. there are also films for all musrcal tastes. There are Broadway mUSicals in Every Little Step, a touring heavy metal band in Anvil! The Story of Anvil and punk rock history in Who Killed Nancy?
We've had some great feedback — people like Franz Ferdinand and Sons and Daughters wanted to take part, but couldn't manage. Mostly. we hope the events entertain all the senses. It's about being totally immersed and haying loads of stuff thrown at you at once. That's more memorable than just going to see a band or Sitting in a cinema. llnterView by Claire Sawers)
