THANKSGIVING IT LALDIE Re: A Bluffer’s guide to Thanksgiving (617) It is amusing to read about your take on Thanksgiving. While potato, sweet corn and coleslaw are common in dinners, in the US, they are not necessarily Thanksgiving staples.
Where I live the staples are turkey, dressing, pecan pie, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, and green bean casserole. They are often supplemented by favourites of the individuals enjoying such meals, and vary region by region and the dressing itself also varies greatly between regions. Up until I read it, I did not have a favourable impression of her, wrongly assuming her to be another stuck-up bimbo, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that she does have her own opinions and isn't just a Brad Pitt fashion accessory.
She was very complimentary towards Clint Eastwood – another pleasant surprise and a welcome change from stars berating their directors post-production.
I was also touched by her comment on losing her mother to

name upon arrival they said I wasn’t on the booking list. I had called the booking line days previously, left my name, telephone number, number of tickets required and date of the show. I have been going to this club for eight years so know the process. They went on to ask whether I had a reference number (you don’t receive one when booking via phone). The staff were unhelpful and rude to

CUTTING ABOUT THE ROOM Re: Best Scottish Books - The Cutting Room I found this book rather tedious and pretentious. Its depiction of Glasgow seems to be more Dr Findlay's Casebook.
Speaking as a local, I feel i can also comment on the appalling use of inappropriate local dialogue and a collection of frankly ludicrous ‘no holds barre’ characters which make the whole town look like the set of a cheap porn movie complete with ‘look at me, I know about nasty sex’ descriptions. The trouble – or probable benefit for the future – is that once you have used up all these extremes within one book, it hopefully will prevent any further publications. Bob and Amy I liked the fire, wine, sausages and the Ferris wheel. The German market bit was best; but I wasn’t so sure about the Scottish market part. Will I’ve never been to something like this before, but it seems good. It maybe goes on for a bit too long.
Carley and Amy It’s amazing and so pretty with all the lights. It’s our first time here, but ice-skating outside has been so much fun! Gerard and Jan I’m amazed at it all; I didn’t know about it until last year. People seem to be having a really good time. Christmas has begun!
