When it premiered at Dundee Rep last year, Sunshine on Leith, a musical based on the songs of The Proclaimers, proved an instant success, more than holding its
own against the legions of musicals based on pop music back catalogues, such as Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You and Our House. Scripted by Stephen Greenhorn, the pen behind River City and Dr Who as well as the hit play Passing Places, the tale of two brothers' struggle to adapt to everyday life in Leith after returning home from the army is a moving, exhilarating night out, not to mention a rare chance to sing along to well-kent classics such as ‘Letter From America’, ‘Sunshine on Leith’ and ‘l’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’.
