When did you start your job? I have been working for The New Bell since August 2008, but I have been working in hospitality for six years in bars and restaurants in Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
So what does your job aetuatty invoiue‘? What does it not involve! At the moment, my day consists of organising company Christmas parties large and small, talking on the telephone, designing adverts for magazines and newspapers and that’s just in the first hour of the morning. Everyday is a different day for me but I always have so much fun that it really doesn’t feel like work.
Best / Worst Aspects? I get paid to TALK something that I enjoy a lot and am really good at! I love the adrenalin rush of a really busy service and the buzzy atmosphere that the restaurant has during service. Every day I meet so many great people from all over the world who dine with us, and they leave the restaurant with a smile, and that’s the best part of my job.
What did you do before yet: started this gob? I studied Medicine at Aberdeen University but decided that I wanted a career that I could say wholeheartedly I enjoy every day.
What’s the best way to get a job titre yours? In this job, you have to enjoy meeting people, smile all the time and have a passion for food and drink. You need to be really energetic as it can often involve long days and late nights. You also need to know how to have fun and appreciate life.
Looking back, what advice weuid you give to a: young Satyr at the start of her career? If you want the job you have to go and get it, it’s not going to come to you. Also, if you fail the first time you should never stop trying.

Moving Image Literacy for Learning is a research project supported with financial assistance from Scottish Screen. The Stirling Institute of Education will work with partners Falkirk Council and the macrobert, Stirling. A key aim of the project is to develop resources that will use moving image to support the development of learning and teaching practices in relation to the Curriculum for Excellence.
You will have a background in moving image, knowledge and understanding of schools and new policy initiatives — especially the Curriculum for Excellence. Educated to Masters level in a relevant area, you will have some experience of researching similar projects.

We're busy preparing for the 2009 edition of The List's annual Eating & Drinking Guide and we'd like to hear from anyone with suitable research and writing skills who would be interested in being part of the team working on the guide,
We are looking for reliable contributors capable of composing sharp. concise and original reviews of eating establishments to tight publishing deadlines. You will need to display thoroughness and accuracy in gathering information. and we would expect to see evidence of your knowledge of food and drink in general. as well as your familiarity with the eating out scene in Glasgow and/or Edinburgh. You will also need to have reliable access to email and the web and be computer literate.
All work is on a part-time. freelance basis in January. February and March 2009. The work is generally conducted in the evenings and at weekends.
