So what does your job actually involve? A lot of chatting which is always good. Chatting to distributors about upcoming releases. Chatting to press and radio folks to see if they’re into the new material. Chatting to DJs to see if they’ll be playing the latest records. Chatting to our own artists for a bit of a laugh. It’s a hard life. There is obviously a lot of admin-type stuff gets done as well but I won’t bore you with that.
Best 1 worst aspects? Best aspects are getting to out about with Daft Punk at Rock Ness, free entry to festivals and club nights all over Scotland, partying at our monthly club nights Pressure and Return to Mono and all the free- bies that come with it. The worst is probably the after- math of said partying.
What did you do before you started this job? I was studying film and TV at Glasgow University and was heavily involved in the university radio station, Subcity.org
What's the best way to get. a job like yours? Like most of the media and entertainment industries, work experience is definitely the way forward in music. Do as much as possible and do it well. Extra-curricular activi- ties are always helpful to punt your name about and to develop your interests.
Looking back, what advice would you give to a young Don at the start of your career? Try to remember to take a break at some point during the day.

What’s the next big release we can expect from Soma? We’ve got Robert Hood doing two remixes of “The Black Dog’ on Detroit vs Sheffield and Orlando Voorn doing one of ‘Octogen' on The Journeyman, both of which we’re really excited about. We've also got a number of releases from a host of new artists on the label such as Decimal, Harvey McKay and Mr Copy.
