Gi festival returns to Glasgow with local and international artists creating work on the theme public/private. Words: Anna Millar

public as pan of this year's (ilasgow International I‘estiyal ol' (‘ontemporary Visual Art ((ii). which takes place in April. The award-winning artist will giye his residence oyer to Algerian artist Adel Alulessemed as part of the l‘c'stiy';il‘s ‘public/priyate' theme.
The liestiyal will showcase a range of
special commissions and new work by established (ilasgow-based artists. as well as responses to the city of (ilasgow by artists t'rom across the world.

McKee added that the theme was entirely Open to interpretation from the artists: ‘.\'ew areas are being deyeloped and the architecture [ol‘ the city] leayes many open spaces. but they are seldom genuiner inyiting as a public space. At the same time. the city's population is redefining the city in its own way. with different ‘publies‘ tinding alternatiye space to flourish.

I Building on the success of our annual Eating and Drinking Guide, The List is launching a special card designed to encourage readers to eat out more. The LIST card will be launched to coincide with the 15th edition of the guide. which is published in April 2008. Participating restaurants will offer '2 for 1' or ‘50% off‘ and cardholders can make use of the offer once a year at each restaurant. Robin Hodge. publisher of The List, said: ‘We have worked with Scottish restaurateurs for 15 years and The LIST Card is a natural extension of these activities. It offers a new way to encourage readers to dine out and visit a wider range of Scottish restaurants. It extends The List's support for Scottish food and drink.‘
