SCOTTISH CULTURAL SHOWCASE

I Scotland is celebrated in style this weekend as the two-day London Gathering showcases the best of Scottish culture. Taking place for the first time on 8—9 September at The Inner Temple Gardens in London, the main stage is hosted by Hardeep Singh Kohli and Clare Grogan. with music from Eddi Reader, Sandi Thom, Laura McGhee and Beefcake (fronted by Lords of the Rings actor, Billy Boyd). Scottish authors appearing include Boyracers author Alan Bissett. Wodehouse Prize winner Christopher Brookmyre, lsla Dewar and AL Kennedy.

Celebrity chef Nick Nairn, Shirley Spear of The Three Chimneys, winner of the 2007 Hotel Reviews Best Restaurant in Scotland, and Master Chef Winner Sue Lawrence will be on hand to demonstrate their culinary prowess.

To round the festivities off, a mock ‘Princes Street' walkway, running 130m, will be set up along the Thames, with models showing off some of Scotland's most luxurious and famous brands. (AM)

A short DVD celebrating Scotland's artistic excellence and enthuSiasni for innovation, created by the Scottish Arts Council espeCially for an international audience. was also given away.

The aim of the giveaway. said organisers. was to showcase Scotland's talents to a global audience.

Richard Holloway. chair of the Jomt Board of Scottish Arts CounCil and Scottish Screen, said: 'We love it when people vrsrt Scotland to pin us when we are making festivals but we are sad when they leave us to return to their own homes.
