PROMOTE THE PROMOTERS Re: Musicians’ Guide (578) Of all the gigs I've been to in the last year. some of the most interesting (DaVid Thomas Broughton. Viking Moses. Woodpigeon) have been organised by one promoter — Tracer Trails. I was surprised. then. that this industrious organisation was not mentioned in the list of promoters in your recent 2007 Musician 's Guide. LikeWise. Nuts and Seeds. Trampoline. Tremors. I Fly Spitfires. This Is Our Battlefield. Drive Carefully. Go-Ra-Ga. Cold Dead Hands. and mrwztzl. All were absent from the guid
There is a thriVing grassroots music scene in this COLintry. and very dedicated people putting on shows for a love of music. rather than making money. But once again this is overlooked. and the very peeple that would be most likely to put on and enc0urage new bands are absent from your guide. Shame. Gordon Edinburgh

I was delighted to note that the excellent exhibition The Naked Portrait featured last issue. However. I was most disappOinted in your choice of photograph to accompany the write-up. Although Sam Taylor-Wood's “Crying Celebrities are a highlight of the exhibition. I really feel that the ebbice of crinkly old Dustin Hoffman was not the most apprOpriate one. Surer your readership would have been greatly in\.iigorated by the sight of the delightful Robert Downey Jr wrapped in nothing but a bed sheet? I know I was. In fact. I had to be restrained by the friends accompanying me to the exhibition from attempting to [)Tl/C it from the wall of the National Portrait Gallery. I am sure that if this picture were to be featured. the NPG wetild see a vast increase in the numbers attending this exhibition. Just a thought.

It was great but I would have liked to see the things they have at Australian Pride: drag queens and being able to walk around with your beer.

It was my first Pride — my friend persuaded me to come along — and it's been really mad.
generally found on high streets so many of us get tunnel vision when it comes to record buying. Let it be known that The List is fighting for the small businesses of Scotland! Chris

ON COURSE FOR GAMES SUCCESS
It was nice to read Dave Cook's assessment of the Scottish games industry. one of our lesser known success stories. However I was disappomted that he made no mention of the Computer Games Technology course at the University of Paisley. one of only two courses in the UK to receive the prestigious Skillset accreditation for games programming (the other being at the University of Abertay. Dundee). It's also worth noting that entry into the industry does not necessarily mean a job as a game designer' — most jobs are for speCialist artists or programmers. But courses such as ours and complementary courses fOCLismg on teaching modelling. animation and design skills are working hard to produce the graduates our industry needs to create a body of work that we as a nation can be pretid of.
