The UK Touring Australian Film Festival washes up on the west coast of
sea Scotland this fortnight, having already done a stint at the Barbican in
London. Now in its 13th season this always-welcome menu of new film fare from ‘down under’ includes features, documentaries and shorts. The season kicks off with compelling adultery thriller Irresistible (pictured) starring Susan Sarandon, Sam Neill and Emily Blunt. Also showing later in July is Sandra Sciberras' lovingly detailed coming of age drama The Caterpillar Wish, set on the rugged and beautiful southern Australian coast. There’s also 19-year-old Murali K Thalluri’s commendable high school drama 2:37 and Welcome to My Deaf World, a documentary about deaf teenagers Scott and Bethany. This season continues into August.
