Veteran Scottish saxophonist Bobby Wellins is always a welcome visitor in these parts,
and continues to play with power and invention despite having turned 70 last year. The continuation of a fairly recent association with Edinburgh pianist David Patrick has allowed the London-based saxman to join Patrick’s band for a mini-tour. The pianist’s composing and arranging will doubtless figure prominently, although Wellins has a considerable
reputation in that direction himself.
