Vou will assist in the provision of all technical and production aspects of a veru busu multi arts centre, including film: in-house productions:

and visiting companies. Vou will have substantial experience in either production management:

What does your job involve?

Taking care of the nuts and bolts of booking, putting on events that people might not think about booking flights and hotels, arranging airport pickups and making sure the artists are treated like royalty. Fresh flowers and green M&Ms? You got it. Dressing room painted white and a caviar platter? No Problem.

What’s the best thing about your job?

The variety. There are certain things i have to do regularly but the varied programme at The Arches means that every day is different. Also, getting to see some of the biggest bands when they’re on the cusp of greatness is a bit of a buzz - The Kooks, Razorlight and Corrine Bailey Rae all played here just before they all went massive. The Klaxons played here in October and

I reckon they're gonna be one of the ubiquitous bands of 2007. It’s difficult to separate work and pleasure sometimes in this job, which is just about the best thing anyone could ask for.

What: did you do before you started this job?

Heh. I worked in a library. The most diametrically opposed thing to working in one of the top ten clubs in the world! In some ways it was probably the monotony surrounded by books that filled me with the drive and energy required to just chuck everything and power headlong into something completely different. I was determined not to settle for the easy option and to do whatever it took to get where I wanted to be. I didn’t think it was fair on myself to settle for a job I didn’t love.

Whgit't; the best wziiy to get a job like yours?

A ‘can-do’ attitude is the most valuable thing to have - get involved in music in whichever capacity you can and be prepared to do anything and everything. After leaving my old job I spent a year handing out flyers, writing for fanzines and websites, putting on events, working in student radio and loads of other dogsbody stuff in between. There is always someone looking for some

free help, just ask around at venues, record labels, promotions companies and you’ll be taken advantage of in no time!

What ‘Htitiltl your ideal night out: he in Glasgow?

It‘s funny, before I started working at the Arches, l was picky about what I did on a night out because I was so desperate to hear new music but was stuck stamping Mills and Boons all week. Now that it’s part of my job, a drunken night in the pub with my closest mates followed by some mad dancing to cheese

usually suffices.
