Cover story: James McAvoy The year has only just begun, and already he’s the ‘face of 2007’. You might have seen James McAvoy, the latest Glasgow-born actor to hit the Hollywood big time, in films like The Chronic/es of Narnia and Inside I’m Dancing, but this year sees McAvoy’s veritable screen explosion. First there’s his starring role opposite an Oscar—tipped Forrest Whittaker in The Last King of Scotland, and then McAvoy plays the smouldering lover (think Colin Firth’s Darcy) of Jane Austen in Becoming Jane. Later in the year McAvoy goes for a spot of Atonement, playing a war hero in the adaptation of Ian lVlcEwan’s brilliant novel. You’re unlikely to tire of this talented young Scottish thesp.
