Gossip, chat and rumour from the gallery floor
I Here’s one for your Moleskin diaries: Abstract artist Sean Scully will be in conversation with Paul Bonaventura at the National Galleries of Scotland, Friday 17 November. The meeting of minds will take place in the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre, from 6-7.15pm. Tickets are free, but it is advisable to book in advance. Scully’s work is currently on show at a major exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, and this event marks the opening of a room of his paintings at the Scottish national Gallery of Modern Art, and the publication of a selection of his writings.
I More? What about a series of lectures on Douglas Gordon? Gulp. Speakers will include the director of the CCA Francis McKee, director of the Fruitmarket Fiona Bradley. the crime writer Ian Rankin, and a batch of art historians and critics. The lectures will begin on Thursday 2 November at 6pm in the Hawthorden Lecture Theatre at the NGS, The Mound (with McKee). and coincides with the exhibition opening of Douglas Gordon: Superhumanatural.
