Obvrously Influenced by Elliott Smith and Jeff Buckley, Kelly has nerther the effortless songwriting prowess of the former nor the extraordinary charisma of the latter, which leaves a hunch of guietly strummy tunes which are pleasant enough, but almost instantly forgettable. Nothing special on the first listen, repeated plays reveals a number of deftly crafted songs. There are traces of Pavement. The Prxres and Talking Heads in their energetic shuttling rhythms and eclectic delivery. best displayed on the quirky ‘Manrtoba'. which veers from gentle lullaby to a groovrng rock finish.
