1 rs! editor NICA Bar/ev responds: Ernesto l eal was for some years an active player in Edinburgh's club scene. We have been in regular contact wrth Ernesto's sister about his situation. and this is much more than simply a case of political lobbying. The list covers Scotland's arts and entertarnmmrt scene in its broadest sense. and the case of Leal is very pertinent to people who worked wrth him and enjoyed his Edinburgh gigs over the years. That's why Ernesto's friends (the likes of Tam Dean Burn, Joseph Malik and the Fire Engrnesl organised a benefit gig at the Liquid Room on 15 June in support of hrs cause. What's more. our support is a crucial element in demonstrating to the courts that Ernesto is not an Illegal immigrant. If this prevents him from herng shipped to Jamaica. then I'll happily devote our entire Mailbox page to the cause.
