I Major changes are afoot in the way the RSNO will present orchestral music from this September onwards. Introducing the new season at its Glasgow launch, Music Director Stéphane Deneve compared it to ‘a big bouquet with many different flowers in colourful, tasteful harmony.’ Leading the way down the garden path are enticements such as £5 tickets for under 26’s, free admission for kids, an innovative Naked Classics series that promises to strip classical music bare and a new 6pm concentrated concert slot for those with busy 21 st century lifestyles. In amongst the blooms are return visits for past RSNO favourite conductors, Neeme Jarvi, Walter Weller and Alexander Lazarev. Almost inevitably, the freshest bloom of all, Nicola Benedetti is back too, conducted by Deneve in the very colourful \fiolin Concerto by Glazunov.
I Juana Molina has had to cancel her Triptych shows due to illness. Support act Music & Movement have been added to the bill alongside Tarwater and Tape in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. See rock listings. page 70. for full details.
