'Views to murder for.’ Yes. that's what a significantly larger percentage

of the Abbeyhill population had before they built that humungous green monstrosity ipP-ll. But if you think the front of it is ugly. you should try looking at the back. What used to bean incredible Vista out to the Firth of Forth is now completer blocked by what looks like the rear of a 19708 piison. While the developers are clearly making a mint out of flogging those soulless boxes. everybody else's property has no doubt taken a blow as a

STATE OF INDEPENDENCE
Re: House-buying guide (544)
l read wrth interest your article ‘How to buy a house'. which promised to help first time buyers find out ‘which experts to consult. and how to go about buying a home". l-lowever. you did not make a recomniendation for the reader to seek independent mortgage advice.
To use the title 'independent'. an adVIser must search the whole of the mortgage market. One quick check revealed that there are approxrmately 15.000 mortgage products available to choose from. First time buyers. who by definition are new to the market. would surely benefit from some protesSional help in seeking out which one best suits their needs.

l would like to respond to the recent Letter of the Fortnight and show support for the student who was brave enough to highlight the ssues affecting all the students at the Gateway. As a fellow student I have also felt the rerx2rcussions of losing our theatre and work spaces. I feel a student voice has long been needrxl on this nrxylrxned SUDJOCI. As Gateway students we are resmnsible for our silence on the matter. but not wrthout reason.
Few have been brave enough to follow a complaint through. because the buck is often passed around departments and up through the ranks. eventually culminating in a meeting With the head of the department. who. unsui'prisingly. turns out to be someone you've never met before. After VOICing what I felt was a warranted grievance. I found myself in a situation where l was politely but firmly asked to rrx:onSider the wording and nature of my complaint. I politely but firmly refused and was quickly made to feel as though my complaint was not ]tlSilii(Xi. After rapping me on the knuckles. they could safely assume the complaint was nipped in the bird. I'm a big fan of the White Stripes but it's probably a good thing if Jack White keeps this as a side project. Good to see him in a kilt

l’m pretty familiar with Brendan Benson's music and I thoth it was amazing. I thought the covers of the Love and David Bowie songs were excellent. Five out of five.

Jack White looked dapper in his kilt and they clearly know how to put on a meaty rock show. I would give it the double horns.
