He's been here a few times in the past few years but we still had to go with Mr Ayers this issue so we could run
this cracking photo. Armed with his trusty Vibraphone, he gained infamy in the 705, leading one of the decade's crack feelgood funk outfits alongside contemporaries like Fela Kuti and rolling out tunes like ‘Everybody Loves the Sunshine‘ and Running Away'. Thirty years on, he‘s still got it.
