Sub Pop Records may have a long illustrious
* heritage that sneaks all the way back to Kurt Cobain’s Converse sneakers but it has been quietly building itself a rep as one of the most excellent indie labels around. With Constantines, Wolf Parade and Kinski all rocking the shop at the moment, Rosie Thomas highlights the singer/songwriter strain the label has also been nurturing of late. Three albums in, Seattleite Thomas has refined her delicate sound to give it a more robust, confrontational kind of kick. Nina Nastasia, Elliot Smith or even Liz Phair are all keen points of reference.
