I'm maybe in the newlywed period with this. but any musician, DJ or producer should check out www.myspace.com. It is an essential networking tool for anyone wanting to get on in the music industry. You can browse (or hours through major name acts. record labels, remixers, bedroom DJs. garage bands and stadium fillers. You can put a maximum of four of your own tracks up there for people to stream, or there is an option to download other people's tracks. It means labels and A88 scouts can peruse your work and possibly sign your creations. Nit/1E is right behind it. with many happy stories of unknown bands getting exposure and contracts through this free webspace.
The downside to the site is that there are quite a lot of ‘misunderstood’ teenagers seeking similarly misconstrued 'dudes' to moan to about their parents. This can be avoided by heading straight to the music section. In the week or so that I have been on the site. I have caught up with many foreign DJs and producers that I haven't spoken to in quite a while and now we can converse and swap tracks etc.
No one is going to knock on your door asking if you have any demos on your hard drive or CD shelf, but with this site the tracks are there for all the world to hear. You can add a biog. list of gigs. influences and a bit of self promoting bumph up there. I'm hoping the honeymoon doesn‘t end.
I Catch Mash on Beat 7063 Xpress Beats (Saturday midnight—3am) and weekly Fridays at Vandal at the Liquid Lounge.
I Tipsy at MAS. I lpm 3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. DJ ('utl.. lllyus and Status scratch tip the linest tunes this side of a Manhattan block party circa 82.

Soho’s Iincst indie club ventures north with guests ('oinanechi. Shit Disco. X Vectors. the (itissets plus White lleat DJs. Madame S (l'(i) and Dolly Daydream (DI'l'D).
