I Thomas Krenz, the controversial director of the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation, is out after his 17 year stint at the helm, to be replaced by Lisa Dennison, chief curator and deputy director. After opening Guggenheim satellites all over the world (including Salzburg, Bilbao, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro) and planning many more, the empire is in temporary retreat.

I Glasgow School of Art strengthened its links with China last month by continuing its cultural exchange programme by exhibiting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing. The ‘Hiscox MFA Beijing’ (this year’s repackaged Glasgow MFA at Tramway) continues its tour of the Far East after previously exhibiting in Gallery Sowaka, Kyoto. On 3 September GSA launched a new course in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, where 70 design students will start their studies before continuing in either GSA or Edinburgh College of Art.
