a Nice to see some local talent being recognised. Huggy, who can be seen spinning at Motel and Stereotype, has received a nomination in the House Music Awards 2005’s Outstanding Radio Show category for his slot on Beat 106. Pretty impressive stuff especially as the names he’s up against on the shortlist include Eddie Temple Morris, Pete Tong, Norman Jay, Hed Kandi and Roger Sanchez. The awards take place on 17 November at the Hammersmith Palais, London. For more details check www.housemusicawards.com. The 2 Many Musicians night in Edinburgh may have been cancelled a while back, but there's a different. yet similar, replacement on its way. Once again 2 Many 0.15 are in charge but this time it‘s branded as Radio Soulwax. with a live set from Soulwax and Vitalic. plus of course a DJ set from the infamous Belgian brothers hitting Edinburgh (13 October. City) swiftly followed by Glasgow (14 October. Barrowland).

553 One of the last dance festivals of the summer, Rob Da Bank’s Bestival, takes place this fortnight on the Isle of White (9—11 September). The eclectic line-up includes Réyksopp, Super Furry Animals, Tom Vek, Gilles Peterson, Erol Alkan, Justin Robertson, Grooverider, the Magic Numbers and many more. Unfortunately. the Progression event planned for the Edinburgh College of Art on 24 September has been cancelled. In its place there‘ll be two fifth birthday specials (residents, 11 September; Layo & Bushwackal. 8 October) at the Liquid Room. as well as an Unlock the House event at the ECA on 1 October.
