Gossip, chat and rumour from the gallery floor

Petershill

l Scotland’s Venice delegation are launching into the water, journeying up the canals and unloading into Campo San Rocco for the opening of Venice Biennale 2005 (Sunday 12 June—Sunday 6 Nov). The works created specially for the space by Cathy Wilkes, Tatham & O’Sullivan and Alex Pollard leave from Glasgow and will be installed in time for the launch party on Wednesday 8 June where Fuck off Machete and the Mitford Girls perform along with DJs Tony Swain and Torsten Lauschmann (beau of Cathy Wilkes).

I Artists might struggle and live their lives in financially precarious states. but that doesn't mean they can‘t plan for old age. The Artist PeflSlOft Trust is launching exclusively for artists and WIN operate on a barter-based system With artists saying works rather than money. Already signed up from Scotland are Lucy Skaer. Rosalind Nashashibi and Richard \»’\/right. The idea is that each artist invests 20 works over a 20-year period With profits from the sale of works in the future directed back to artists in the trust (wwwartist pensiontrustorg).

I Wear your art on your sleeve. A group show organised by NADFLY can by spied in June with locations across the world for which ten artists and writers have created 100 artworks on 100 badges. The design by Nicola Atkinson Davidson (pictured) can be seen on various lapels on the Royal Mile and in Petershill, Maryhill, Hillhead, Woodlands, Yoker, Pollokshields, Holgate, Byker and Fenham. Keep your eyes peeled.

I Congratualtions to Rosemary Hogarth. a student at GSA. for being one of the highly commended finalists in the 2005 Nationwide Mercury Prize Art Competition. Her work is currently on show with the other finalists at the Air Gallery in Dover Street. London.
