In an attempt to avoid one of the obvious
routes for a glasgow band - sounding like Mogwai/ Belle and Sebastian/ Franz Ferdinand/ all of the above - Dead Fly Buchowski have created themselves a happily unGlasgow sound. Their big, bruising, lolling bluesy rock, headed up by Roddy Campbell, a man who is in possession of a damn fine set of lungs, is succinctly showcased on debut album Land of the Rough. And if it frightens devotees of foppish types like Kaiser Chiefs or the Killers, then all the better.
