Ask anyone from your 12-year-old nephew to your 70-year-old granny to tell you all about Goldie and you'll get a myriad of replies. To some he's the taciturn gangster hardman Angel in EastEnders. to others a unique, gold- tanged filmic presence in movies such as Snatch and The World Is Not Enough. Hell, some might even best remember him sitting on the sofa in the Celebrity Big Brother house shooting the breeze with Les Dennis. and wonder to this day just what that was all about.
Yet if you successfully identify the Walsall-bred ex-gratfiti artist as the man who revolutionised the jungle sound a decade ago under his Metalheadz guise with Timeless, then this is the night you've been waiting for. If there‘s anyone reading this page in any doubt as to where exactly Goldie’s coming from, be warned.
What you get is a hard-ass set from a true musical original, the precise mixture of dark jungle mania and slick urban soul which sent 0&8 overground in the first place. Fair play. he might have had to field accusations of self-indulgence with Timeless' follow-up Saturnz Return and blotted his credibility jotters a bit with all the TV work, but talent like this should punch holes in any snobbery. A must-see, no doubt about it.
Lest we forget, it‘s also the third birthday bash for Obscene and their
