Re: Transport plans under fire (509)

| read wrth dismay the lead article in the latest edition. Tim Abraharirs clearly knows little about the governance of our nation. If he did. it would be plain that proposals such as the recently announced Edinburgh Airport Rail Link (EARL) and more significantly for the reintroduction of trams into Edinburgh. are at the early stages of Parliamentary approval. It does the process no credit to assume that these proposals will be in place to begin construction in 2006 when the Parliamentarians we elect to scrutinise the proposals for such infrastructure proposals have yet to come to a vrew on the need for trams in the first place let alone whether the EARL protect should be allowed to progress. Slipshod reporting should not give rise to misrnformation, particularly when the public are misinformed enocigh by the Scottish Executive itself.

BOHO NO-NO Re: After Dark (509) am writing to say thanks for

The List,

including the Forest in the After Dark feature. While we appreciate the gesture. there were some errors. Firstly. the art gallery rs not ‘rrext door' to the Forest but inside rt. It is run by the Forest and paid for by the Forest and rs in no way separate. Also. your Journalist called me a bona tide hippie. Unfortunately, though I have a heard. I am pretty much llll(I(II()*CI£iSS. and a inisanthropic misogynist. Furthermore, your intrepid reporter called me. in the piece, 'Rip Van Winkle' and while my farnrly is proud of its links wrth lrvrng Washington's legendarily drowsy character. they are both far too pedestrian to have given me such a ludicrous moniker. However, the largest grievance was the idea that the Forest is staffed by volunteers and run by me. This is untrue. The Forest is staffed and run by volunteers. I manage the kitchen; other people and groups are entirely responsible for everything else. I do not run the Forest and the idea that I do is damaging to staff morale and our overall image.

We have never asked anything of yOu and certainly. we do not need to go through the messiness of printing corrections. addendums and the like. Your readers place a profound faith in you and every correction printed. we know. is an admission. a breech of the readers' trust. For. if you cannot spell my name correctly then how can you know. how can you really KNOW, what time Shark Tale is on at the UGC? All we ask is that you help to hype up our upcoming party weekend. On 10—1 2 December we will be opening up the whole building to all comers. We WILL be selling beer. we will be rocking.

Steve Cramer's review of Lost Ones left me gobsmacked. Did he see the same show as me? Did he leave his brain at the door? Or maybe his sense of humour (‘occasronal humour?“ It was hilarious!). Anyway, as he is so keen to speak for the audience as well as himself, I thOught I'd put something straight: what was he on about? (Metanarrative?! The ‘business of making art'?!) This is what he decrded the show was about. Which is fine. But it is as far away from what I thought it was about as you could get. For him to speak for an audience he is obviously out of much with is really irritating. It isn't fair to tar the audience with the same brush!

For the record, I loved the show. And friends of mine who never go to the theatre loved the show too. It was hilarious and beautiful and really entertaining! It was one of the best things I have ever seen in the theatre and the roars of approval from the audience suggested they loved it too.

If anyone is preoccupied about the business of making art it
