The first lady of hard dance, LISA LASHES, talks to Henry Northmore about bringing Lashed to Scotland for the first time.
ot many l).ls get a whole night named after them. Lisa Lashes — and her Lashed night — is one of the elite few. such is the draw to her 'hard and dirty house with a blend of tough trance' (as she so succinctly puts it) skilfully mixed with a take no prisoners. party hard attitude. Intense. excessive and outrageous is what to expect from the hold and brassy lass. and we expect no less from her night as she takes full command of the Arches with an enviable supporting cast.
Her own night is obviously a labour of love. but what exactly sets it apart'.’ ‘I don‘t want Lashed nights to he anything like "normal" club nights. We only do a few special one offs. big line ups. great production. varied line-ups and musical styles.‘ she explains as we manage to pin her down for a few words during her hectic as all hell DJ schedule. ‘l'm always looking to do something different and special. really. with loads of fun and a lot of sparkle for the harder music lovers out there.‘ And big name support is there in abundance as Anne Savage. the Tidy Boys and A-Star (as well as a few local heroes from Nuklear Puppy and Colours) join Miss Lashes. ‘l have worked with them for years and know they will always put on a

good party. Anne is one of my closest friends in the industry and we don't get to see each other very much so beware.‘
She‘s putting in two sets herself. and there’ll be her usual upfront dance selection in the main room and a ‘dirty breaks set’ in the back room. ‘I love all kinds of music but I have always had a love for breaks as my best friends got me listening to it before I'd become a DJ many years ago. house party. Very messy.‘ That's not as Anne Savage will be following suit. playing the main room as well as an ‘electro house set‘ in the back room.
Lisa sounds as excited about the night as the punters are (especially if advance ticket sales are anything to go by). ‘I haven't really played as much as I would like to in Scotland.' she confesses. ‘But I know recently when I did Coloursfest and Nuklear Puppy that you guys are crazy. You have a lot of energy and love music. so its a fab combination.‘
So if you like the harder end of the dance spectrum. you can’t go far wrong in Lashes‘ hands. However. the night does come with a warning from the lovely lady herself: ‘You will have been well and truly Lashed.~
