HOUSE CASAFUTURA The Sub Club, Glasgow, Fri 6 Aug
‘Over the last year we’ve built up a brilliant crowd who have journeyed with us as we’ve explored different sounds and new technology,’ says Sam Birkett, one third of the brains behind Casafutura, the up-and-coming house night that celebrates is first birthday this week. Birkett started the night with fellow househeads Chris Reid and Andy Elliott with the express intent of exploring the future of electronic music. And in the past 12 months
they’ve done just that.
Past guests have included the likes of the Littlemen, but this date sees special guest Scott Monteith - aka Deadbeat - fly in from Montreal for a live set. One half of the ground-breaking Crackhaus duo, Monteith has been touring his solo sound since he debuted at Sonar festival back in 1998. Since then, he’s built up a loyal following worldwide, his passion for developing new sounds putting him at the cutting edge of electronic music. His fusion of dub-fuelled house and twitchy techno seem perfectly suited to the Sub, so his debut Scottish performance should be a night to remember.
‘Scott’s really looking forward to playing in Scotland,’ says Birkett. ‘And he’s promising a very moving and exciting set. He loves to have people moving and reacting to his sound.’ (Darren Watts)
