You’re terrible Muriel. Edinburgh’s most famous and extraordinary Grande Dame is coming back to her home town this August for her first appearance at the Book Festival. In tribute to the lady who found her prime early and has sustained it for the rest of her life, the National Library of Scotland has developed an online archive that documents everything from letters by Liz Taylor and Graham Greene to old notebooks and betting receipts (www.nls/murielspark) while the Writers’ Museum, Edinburgh, is staging an exhibition documenting her life and works. Serena Carter has skimmed the website to bring you the creme de la creme.
