What’s cock and what’s rock in the world of dance?

Amon Tobin (Ninja Tune 0000 ) Bass heavy as beats assault you like the storming of the beaches at Normandy. Super slick live mix from the envelope-pushing Brazilian.

Adam Freeland Fabric/Ne 76 (Fabric 000 ) Big beats may be a bit dated these days but in Freeland's bands they are exhilarating and heart quickening. Easily morphing from BRMC to UNKLE.

DJ Spinna & Bobbito The Wonder of Stevie: Melody Man (Harmless OOO ) Collating more Stevie Wonder covers. collaborations and other knick knacks from the vaults. Some lovely stuff from the likes of Minnie Ripperton and BB King. but sometimes yOu think perfection should be left well alone.

Cafe Mambo (Defected COO ) Pete Gooding mixes this tenth anniversary double pack. some absolute classics from David Holmes and A Man Called Adam nestled amongst some newer chilled out fav0urites a little too unassuming for its own good.

Mother Earth The Further Adventures of . . . (Acid Jazz ooo ) These guys s0und (and look) like refugees from the 708. all Hendrix licks. kaftans and hippie funk. Far from original but those blissed out jazzy vibes can't help but bring a nostalgic smile to the lips.

The Egg Forwards (Bar De Lune 000 ) Air-esgue vibes from the Egg brothers Ned and Matt. Hard to get over-excited. but it sure does calm the soul.

Thievery Corporation The Cute/national SOL/rid (Eighteenth Street LOunge Music 00 ) Perhaps this suffers from being the fourth laid back jazzed up album in a row. but sorry, this DJ mix just blends into the background.

Taz Analyse This (Def Jam UK 000 ) Until the Streets. UK hip hop was a joke (with a few notable exceptions. of course). This defiantly owes a debt of gratitude to Mike Skinner but adds even more urban bite.
