CULT OF THE FORTNIGHT

OBSESSING ABOUT THE WEATHER

It's the silly season again when the young, the old and the marginally disturbed start obsessrng about the weather. While the rest of Europe get their leathery hides sunkissed we in Scotland spend the two days a week of oppressive sunshine we get turning lobster outside the nearest intersection public house. We then spend the next five days applying Nivea and mouse urine on our wounds while shelting from the pissy summer showers. So what do we do? We start obsessing, trying to read the signs and we take mad gambles with our daily outfits in defiance of climate kismet. But worst of all. we start to pay attention to Michael Fish OBE after a long winter and spring of immunity to his warming touch.
