Mainstream singer songwriters get a bad press. I blame David Gray. But they’re not all wobbly- bonced dullards. Take Paddy Casey. Five years ago he was a penniless busker on the streets of Dublin. Then Sony signed him up. Then his debut album, Amen (80 Be It), went double platinum in lreland and he won all sorts of awards. And all just by writing brilliantly simple and slightly barbed acoustic tunes and having the voice of an angel. Four years down the line and a second album, Living, shows the musician and his songwriting maturing without any of the horrible Hush Puppies and Mondeo visions
