Glasgow Music Production
In terms of quality dance-music Gin:ng has been punching above its weight for some time. The city's productions are played out to enthusiastic crowds across the globe with its collectives pumping out
classics at an almost unteasible rate.
Deserving of a special mention are Mash (Martyn Henderson), Gordon Logan and Chris Harris, Deep Freeze, Sidewinder (Alan Dryden), DJs Harri and Domenic, and a healthy stable of others, all of whom have been putting the work into some of the most distinctive house, broken beat and hip hop productions on the circuit. Bryden’s Sidewinder project will raise its profile further in October with the release of a much-anticipated album of Iettiield
grooves.
Mash describes the rewards that come of producing a track as well- received as this year’s Danceteria: ‘You have to have faith in yourself when putting out records, but people telling you that they love a track you’ve done, and that it brings back memories of a night, a holiday or whatever,
that’s really good.’
Similarly, Logan enthuses about the experience and describes the prestige derived from successful production: ‘My production with Mark Heavenor, Sunshine Allergy, received plays from DJ Heather, Kenny Hawkes and Yousef among others. I’m definitely looking to develop the production side oi things in years to come.’ (Johnny Regan)
