Eclectic dance types are buzzing over Aim, the project headed up by Barrow-ln-Furness‘ Andy Turner, but - with ten other punters shoring up the sound on stage - it's hard to see what exactly there is to stop him going down the road of jazz-funk muso tedium.
It may have been a very real danger, were it not for the rabble- rousing skills of singer Niko and MC Spikey T. Spikey’s a bouncy

enough bloke as it is (although Aim’s take on hip hop is more style-bar glossy than ghetto-authentic), but Niko's an infectious presence, keeping the dance going even when she’s not on the mic and finally being rewarded with a pop at
her own ‘You’re My Favourite Music‘.
Although proceedings are more laid-back at the start. Aim eventually claimed a deserved place at the classier end of the Saturday night market with tunes like ‘Journey to the End of the Night' and ‘Slow Dive'. At this rate, folk'll be calling them the new Groove Armada before long. (David Pollock)
