After a Quick safety brief. we started the day With a lesson on the skid pan. This was an invaluable lesson on how to save your ass if you lose control of your car. as well being great craic. But it was the rally nging which really got my pulse racing.
'Drive it like you stole it.' I was told. Easny done. With a pro by my Side. I screamed round the corners of the racetrack as he shouted instructions.
I had a Penelope Pitstop moment too. buckled into a Legend. possibly the dinkiest car in the world. But there wasn't a moment to powder my nose as l sped off — at the
breakneck speed of 25mph.
And. finally. we were set loose on the mud. Although less speedy. off-road driving generates a huge thrill of its own and is much scarier. | chickened out of one near- vertical drop JLlSl as the nose tipped over the top. and for the first time that day I saw an instructor panic as he worked out how to back us out of this little Hal/(Ill Job. Well. if I'd managed everything I'd have no excuse to go back.
