ROSS NOBLE
Known for his spiralling feats of spontaneity, the Geordie mirthster can be pretty outrageous when he puts his mind to it. Here's ten of the most hilariously brilliant sights witnessed at a Ross Noble gig . . .
1 The boy David. Glastonbury, 2002. The Cramlington-born comic can't hide his hatred of Craig DaVid. Midway through his 'Crawling Away' rOLitine. in which the poncy vocal gyrator gets a good kicking. someone from the audience offers Noble the singer's mobile number. Noble then invites the audience to join him in shouting fuck off!‘ into the voicemail.
Career hind sight
2 The arse files #1. T in the Park, 2000. It's peeing down outside. All Saints are playing on the main stage. and the cafe tent is packed with people witnessing an audience member retrieving a tenner from Ross Noble's arse crack.
3 Titillation. Nottingham, 2001. Noble is the innocent bystander. A drunken female neckler is heckled by another audience member: 'Tits out Or get out'. She obliges
and stays.
4 24-hour party people. Nottingham, 1999. The gig has gone well. but the night is but a pup. The audience JOID Noble on a mile and a halt walk to an all-night petrol station to dance in front of the security cameras.
5 Swing your pants. Edinburgh, 1999. The notorious bearpit of Late'n'Live is tamed by resident ringleader Noble when he sends a punter home to fetch a pair of pants and then challenges Phil Kay to come on stage and model the pants for £6. 6 Underwater love. Australia, 2000. Someone’s mobile keeps ringing. so Noble confiscates the offending handset and places it in a glass on stage. He says if it rings again he'll fill the glass with water. Guess what happens next.
7 The arse files #2. Australia, 2000. The man Noble gets his arse out again. This time it's at the Barry Award ceremony (Australia's equivalent of the Perrier). Despite the impromptu mooning. they awarded Noble the Barry earlier this year.
8 A sore point. Southampton. A couple in the audience won't stop chatting during 'llS set. so Noble. sensing an age difference. asks: ‘ls that yetir dad’?‘ The girl sneaks backstage after the gig and punches him in the face for his cheek.
9 The arse files #3. Edinburgh, 1999. Noble orchestrates a world record-breaking attempt en the number of bare arses ‘.’lSlblC in a room at any one time. To break the
ice. he goes first. Naturally.
