We were somewhere on the M8 when the Sweetheart Stout began to take hold. Suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like giant midges. Very soon, I knew we would be completely twisted. But there was no going back and no time to rest. Deejay registration for the Masonic 400 was already underway and l was to perfonn at the biggest orange walk in the history of men in aprons... l was after all a professional Disc Jockey and had an obligation to play for good or
ill.
The boot was loaded up with more uppers. downers. screamers and laughers than a playground in Easterhouse. We had also taken enough 20-20. Special Brew and Buckfast to drown a jakey. There is nothing in the world more helpless. irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of a Buckfast binge.
