American saxophonist Bob Sheppard‘s horn has featured on dozens of sessions. and he has toured with the likes of Chick Corea and Steely Dan. but has only just released his debut album. In The Now. on the UK-based Sirocco Jazz label. Why the long wait? Bob has a simple explanation: ‘Basically my career kept expanding in many different areas. and l was very happy playing very good music with a whole lot of people. Ten years sounds a long time. but it feels like ten minutes sometimes. ln the back of my mind I knew I was postponing something I should be doing. though, and I want to get the next one out fairly quickly.‘ (Kenny
Mathieson)
