Sun/zipping studio lights for the darkened domain of the Arches. the transfer of 880:; Live F/oor Show to an actual 'liye' venue demonstrates Just how tight the programme was. and why we should all pray for a second series soon. Uninhibited by cenSure and four-minute spots. the open format releases the shows regulars to really let fly with their material. and for the most part it's a gleefully rude success.

But if TV makes performers look leaner. then there's something to be said for the pruning powers of editing too. Less of compere Alan Anderson would definitely have been more. with his self—indulgent manner occasionally spreading to the seasoned acts. but generally. this was still Scotland's top comedians at the top of their collective game. and none more so than Bob Doolally and Miles Jupp.

Kicking off proceedings. Doolally's gin—soaked football pundit offered the perfect foil to the understated .Jupp. As the l()rl‘.‘(3l' used his extra-time to build towards a clin‘atic changing room rant. the latter sin‘ply i'evelled l.'l an extended ramble through his usual
