The success of the Ali-G lookalike’s summer anthem ‘Another Chance’ has been swiftly followed by another hit ‘You Can’t Change Me’ from his debut production album First Contact and, according to Sanchez, there’s nowhere he‘d rather be for New Year than Scotland. ‘Glasgow is one of my favourite places to play in the UK because the crowd is so up for it.’ he says. ‘I did the beach thing last year. the warm weather New Year in Australia. so I figured this year'l’d try a bit of cold to keep me in the Christmas spirit.‘

GEORGE SQUARE DANCE
PARTY WITH CLYDE 1
9.30pm-1.308m. George Square. Free, but ticketed. Radio Clyde and Colours have joined forces to bring in the new year. It all kicks off with Clyde's George Bowie (9.30pm) who will hand over to Huggy (10pm) for some up-for-it dance music before Jon Mancini (10.35pm) starts the build-up towards the bells. Roger Sanchez (1 1.30pm) performs some turntable trickery to bring us into the New Year before Clyde's latest recruit. Trevor Reilly, (12.30am) plays the last set.
CITY CENTRE STREET PARTY
Hogmanay wouldn't be Hogmanay without a good party to go to and what better a venue than the streets of Glasgow? There are three stages around the city centre each catering for different styles of music. There'll also be street theatre and much partying. As last year, all events are free.
THE MAIN STAGE
9.30pm-1.303m. Dunlop Street Car Park.
The main stage has moved next to the St Enoch Centre for this year's celebrations. Clyde 1's Suzie McGuire and Gary Stein will be compering the party and introducing some home-grown rock and pop acts starting with Tippi (9.30pm) and then former Silencers front man J.J. Gilmour (10pm) who will be performing tracks from his debut album as a solo artist. After having sold out the Barrowland in November. the Supernaturals (10.35pm) are back before some surprise guests welcome in the new year. First band of 2002 are the Cosmic Rough Riders (12.20am) who will be playing their latest hits.
PARTY STAGE
9.30pm-1 .SOam. Wilson Street.
The Party Stage, just off Glassford Street, in the Merchant City is brought to you by Clyde 2 and provides everything required for a damn good party: disco. Motown. pop. dressing up, singing along and cover bands galore. Gavin Pearson will introduce 603 and 70s disco classics from The Soul Kings (9.30pm), a mix of pop from Steps Club Seven (10.10pm) and some schoolgirl pouting from Absolut Britney (10.50pm). The Robbie tribute Millennium 2000 (1 1.30pm) takes us up to the midnight hour followed by some Abba mania from Abba Forever (12.10am).
SCOTTISH STAGE
9.30pm-1.30am. Trongate G Candlerlggs.
if you like things traditional, then bring your kilt, shortbread. lump of coal and a dram (in a plastic bottle of course) along to this Scottish stage. Hosted by Clyde 2’s Dean Park, it will be a heuchin' and teuchin' mixture of traditional and contemporary kicking off with The Gutty Slippers (9.30pm). The Fraser McLelland Ceilidh Band (9.45pm) and Cloud Howe (10.50pm). The Gutty Slippers are the band to take us up to midnight before The Tartan Amoebas (12.05am) welcome in the New Year Scottish style.

I Tlckets
The only event that requires tickets this year is the George Square Dance Party. The ticket application date has now passed and all tickets have been allocated. The other events at the Main Stage, Party Stage and Scottish Stage don't require tickets and are open to everybody. I Buses
Due to the number of people in town and the road closures. it is advisable to leave the car at home. There are plenty of buses running throughout town with First Glasgow putting on a special Hogmanay service. You can take any bus into the city but don't forget that regular services will stop at 9pm. The return buses will leave from Buchanan Bus Station from after the bells to 4am.
