The drivers are on the grid, the tyres have been heated up, the flag has been waved . . . and they’re off. OK, so it might not be Formula One, but you can still pretend on this smaller scale grand prix track. If you don’t think you are a very competitive person then this is the sport to prove you
wrong.
Scotkart is Scotland’s largest indoor karting organisation and, as if its race track wasn’t long and twisty enough, it has decided to add a bridge and make it faster and harder than ever before. With no time wasted, they kit you out in a racing suit, gloves and helmet and then gather you together for your race briefing. No bumping, no foul play, just tight corners and loads of adrenaline. Head into the pits, choose your kart, rev up and head out onto the track for your warm-up lap. By this point you are feeling pretty cocky and once on the starting grid, you are dementedly determined to
whip the ass of the other drivers.
By the time the race is finished you are absolutely knackered, but still desperate to get back on the track for one more thrashing. The only problem is trying to drive home without throwing yourself round corners at breakneck speed and overtaking everything in sight. (Jane Hamilton)
