The Traxx crew have been thrilling Glasgow's house fraternity for three years now. and have shifted venue to The Arches in anticipation of many more to come.
Traxx, that name rings a bell . . . I'm not Surprised. the club has built up a loyal following in its three year existence. with some 400 card- carrying members a testament to the showcase of local talent.
You’re being a trifle vague aren’t you? This is a Factfile. in case youve forgotten.
It's facts you want. is it? Well. the club made its name with a regular slot at the Jamaica Street-era Sub Club and a residency at underground venue The Soundhaus. The club's raison d'étre has always been to show off the fact that Glasgow's vibrant house scene has more than its fair share of high calibre DJs. and half of them seem to man the decks at Traxx. namely Simon Cordiner. Laurence Hughes. Billy Woods. Andrew Pine and the Fresh & Low crew. The h0use fraternity will recognise the fact that those names translate into an across- the-board selection of quality house. from thoroughbred disco to bang up to date deep stuff.
Cripes, it’s like a 703 supergroup. Except with DJs.
Quite so. and when you add to that the fact that Traxx's broad mtiSic policy is matched by a iamOUSly inclusive. friendly approach to promotion — at times the club can feel like a school reunion crossed With a wedding reception. but in a good way — the night has been on to a Winner since day one.
And do they have room for guests in that crowded DJ box?
Indeed they do. and not your bog standard big names either. Past highlights include Eliot Eastwick and Miles Holloway (pictured). New York's finest Joe Clatissell. and the ldjtit Boys. For the 3rd Birthday bash, it's a residents-only affair, however — just as the regulars prefer.
