HEBRIDES ENSEMBLE
It's Happ Birthday this month to the Hebrides Ensemble, who celebrate ten remarkable years of some of the most stunning, high- quality chamber music to e heard in Britain today. Co-founded by cellist William Conway and pianist Peter Evans, the group has held fast to its origina aims of gathering outstanding, mainly Scottish ased, musicians (including trumpeter Angela Whelan pictured right) to perform a cross-section of repertoire. 'We get the best possible players, who are really committed to playing chamber music with attention to detail and a sense of creativity,’ explains Evans. 'Pro rammes are a mix of great pieces mm the past, 20th century classics and the best of contemporary music.’

One of Poulenc’s last works, this lyrical opera from the 1950s is performed by students of the Academy‘s Post Graduate Opera course and conducted by Timothy Dean.
